Four girls have been brought to hospital after at least one aerosol exploded in a house in Drogheda this afternoon.

The four, aged between 12 and 14, were in an upstairs bedroom of a house in the Marian Park area when the explosion occurred at 4.20pm.

Gardaí said some structural damage was also caused to the house.

The girls were taken to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda.

It is understood that two of them may be transferred to Dublin for specialist treatment for burns.
