Visiting restrictions are in place at University Hospital Limerick due to a suspected outbreak of the winter vomiting bug.

In a statement, the hospital said that visits to all wards are prohibited except for those to critically ill patients.

Children are not allowed to visit patients and should be kept away from all areas of the hospital.

The hospital also said only the parents and guardians of children being treated in the Children's Ark will be allowed visits.
