Two men have been killed in a road crash in Co Laois this morning.

The driver and passenger of a motorcycle, believed to be in their late 20s or 30s, were fatally injured when they collided with a van.

The crash happened on the road between the village of Arles and Simmons Mill shortly after 6am.

The two men have been named as Thomas Hurley and Tom McCormack.

The van driver, who is in his 20s, was taken to hospital with minor injuries.

The road is closed and local diversions are in place.
