The body that administers the third level grant system has urged students to submit applications before the 1 August deadline.
Student Universal Support Ireland, better known as SUSI, says it operates under a very tight processing time frames between May and October.
The body says it has already received 75,000 applications and is appealing to students to return documentation.
Spokesperson Graham Doyle said, "We are expecting to receive more than 100,000 applications for the 2014/2015 academic year.
"We have received 75,000 applications to-date and we would urge students to apply before the deadline of 1 August to ensure that their applications receive priority," he added.
