One person has died and another was injured in a two-car collision in Co Limerick this afternoon.

Gardaí say the driver of one of the cars was pronounced dead at the scene of the scene, which occurred at Creggane about three kilometres outside Charleville at around 12.30pm. 

The driver of the second car was taken to University Hospital Limerick with non-life threatening injuries.

The road has been closed for a technical examination and diversions are in place.
