A woman has died in a crash in Co Donegal and two men have died after a crash on the N2 in Co Monaghan.

The woman, who was in her 70s, was travelling alone when her car hit a ditch in Cloghore, near Ballyshannon, at about 10.20pm last night.

She was pronounced dead at the scene and her body was removed to Sligo General Hospital.

The road is currently closed for an examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators and local diversions are in place.

Meanwhile, a two-car collision on the N2 at Carrickmacross has left two men, aged in their 50s and 60s, dead.

The two-vehicle crash happened at around 11am and the road is currently closed for a forensic examination.
