A man in his 30s has been arrested on suspicion of withholding information in connection with the shooting of a six-year-old boy.

Detectives do not believe that he was directly involved in the shooting in Ballyfermot in Dublin on Friday.

Gardaí believe he has vital information that will progress the investigation.

The boy remains in a stable condition in Our Lady's Children's Hospital, Crumlin.
