A new opinion poll suggests that Joan Burton is more likely than Alex White to attract voters to the Labour Party.

1,000 people were surveyed for the Sunday Independent/Millward Brown poll.

The two Labour leadership contenders attracted just 51% support between them.

35% of people surveyed said they were more likely to vote for the party under Ms Burton's leadership compared to 16% if Mr White was leader.

12% of people surveyed last Tuesday and Wednesday said they would not vote for Labour.
