Taoiseach Enda Kenny will fly out to San Francisco today for a short visit to meet several technology firms.
During the visit, Mr Kenny will also meet members of the Irish community and the Governor of California, Jerry Brown.
The trip is in conjunction with IDA Ireland and Enterprise Ireland.
The Taoiseach will meet with senior management of many of the technology firms that have large operations in Ireland.
On his itinerary are visits to Google, Facebook, Cisco and eBay among others, as well as private meetings with companies who do not yet have a presence in Ireland.
A number of expansion announcements are expected over the course of the trip.
Mr Kenny will meet a number of Irish people working in Silicon Valley and will attend a pitching event for new start-ups. He is also due to present trophies to some victorious GAA teams.
He will also meet Governor Brown before flying home on Saturday.
