An army bomb disposal team has rendered safe a suspect device which was found outside a house in Drogheda, Co Louth.

Following the discovery of the viable Improvised Explosive Device by a member of the public in the Moneymore area, the Explosive Ordnance Disposal team was deployed at around 2pm.

The device was made safe at the scene without the need for a controlled explosion and was brought to a secure military location for further examination.
