Jury fails to reach verdict on second man accused of Rialto murderTuesday 27 May 2014 17.50
The jury in the trial of a 20-year-old man accused of murdering German student Thomas Heinrich has failed to reach a verdict.
Wesley Kelly from St Anthony's Road in Dublin was yesterday convicted of assaulting 23-year-old Robert Rinker in Rialto.
He denied murdering his 22-year-old friend Mr Heinrich on 1 December 2012.
Yesterday, Kelly's co-accused, a 17-year-old who cannot be named because of his age, was convicted of murdering Mr Heinrich and assaulting Mr Rinker.
However, after further deliberation today the jury failed to agree on a verdict on the murder charge against Kelly.
The prosecution had alleged Kelly was involved in a joint enterprise and had gone "looking for fight" with his co-accused.
