A 21-year-old man has been arrested following a stabbing incident at the Belfast Metropolitan College that left a man in a serious but stable condition in hospital.

"A 21-year-old male has been arrested following a stabbing incident at college premises at the Millfield area, Belfast, this afternoon,” a PSNI spokesperson said.

"A 26-year-old male, who was involved in the incident, has been taken to a nearby hospital for treatment to his injuries. His condition is described as serious but stable."

The college said the stabbing incident, which involved two students, was unprecedented in its history.
