A 35-year-old man has been remanded in custody following an armed robbery at a supermarket in Co Wexford yesterday.

The man, who was armed with a knife and wearing a red balaclava, entered the shop on Coach Road in Gorey at around 3.40pm and threatened staff.

He left with a sum of money and was arrested close to the scene a short time later.

A sum of money was also recovered.

He is due to appear before Wexford District Court tomorrow morning.

No-one was injured in the incident.
