Two men who were being questioned following an incident in Dungarvan, Co Waterford during which a young man died, have been released without charge.

Jamie Docey, 18, who was from Dungarvan, was fatally injured after he fell near a stream.

It happened following an earlier confrontation at the home of a senior local Garda.

The Garda Ombudsman Commission is investigating the incident.

A group of four young men were at or near the house of the garda when bottles were thrown or broken.

The off-duty Garda came out of his house and there was a confrontation with the men, during which he was struck on the head with a bottle.

The group fled on foot. It is believed Mr Docey was trying to climb over railings at the back of a housing estate when he fell.

His body was later recovered after an extensive search.

Three men were arrested following the incident.

One man was released last night and the remaining two were released this morning.
