Gardaí are investigating a carjacking and the robbery of a woman and her two children in Dublin today.

The incident occurred at approximately 3.40pm when the woman was stopped at traffic lights in Terenure at the junction of Zion Road and Orwell Road.

A man got into the back of her car threatened and demanded money from her.

He also claimed to have a weapon and instructed the woman to drive to her house and retrieve bank cards, which she did.

He then made her drive to an ATM and withdraw money at the AIB Bank in Rathgar after which he forced her to drive to Portobello, where he exited the car.

The female driver and the children were uninjured during the incident.

The man is described as approximately 5'9" with shaved dark hair, unshaven, medium build wearing a dark wax type jacket and dark scarf.
