A 30-year-old Sligo man has pleaded guilty to three charges relating to a siege at the home of his parents in December last year.

Michael O'Connor pleaded guilty at Sligo Circuit Court to possession of a single-barrel shotgun with intent to endanger life on 28 December 2013 at 'Nolmar', Scardenmore, Sligo and to discharging the firearm at two gardaí.

He admitted damaging a garda car.

Judge Anthony Hunt observed: "If anybody, including gardaí, has shots fired in your direction, it would be traumatic."

The judge remanded O'Connor in continuing custody for a Probation report before sentence on 10 November.
