A man has appeared in court charged with assault and production of a hatchet as a weapon in connection with an incident in Dublin.
A 38-year-old man was left seriously injured after the incident at an apartment in Kelly's Row, off Dorset Street, in the early hours of Sunday morning.
The victim, Paul Doyle, remains in a critical condition in Beaumont Hospital.
Jonathan Donovan of Cherryfield Lawn, Clonsilla, Dublin, appeared at Dublin District Court today and was charged with assault causing harm and production of a hatchet as a weapon at Kelly's Row.
Mr Donovan remains in custody pending a bail application.
