North Korea fired two medium-range ballistic missiles toward the Japan Sea, South Korea's Yonhap news agency said.
The agency cited senior South Korean military officials.
The missiles, which appeared to be Rodong class, flew around 650km, the agency said.
North Korea has fired several short-range missiles in recent days.
The launches came as Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe was due to meet South Korean President Park,along with US President Barack Obama, who brokered the meeting.
