Police in Northern Ireland say a Spanish au pair missing from her home in Belfast may have travelled to the Republic.

The PSNI said it is increasingly concerned for the welfare of 26-year-old Damaris Gualdo Sanchez.

Ms Sanchez was last seen in the Dublin Road area of Belfast at around 9.30pm on Sunday.

It is understood that the young au pair has friends in the Drogheda area and gardaí are asking anyone with information to come forward.

She is described as being of average height, slim build with brown hair and brown eyes and is believed to have been wearing an olive-green coat, black trousers and possibly a red scarf.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the PSNI in Tennent Street on 0845 600 8000.

Information can also be given anonymously through the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
