A search of the River Shannon near the bridge at Killaloe in Co Clare was launched earlier after reports that a man was seen entering the waters there.

The search involving Irish Coastguard units along with local search teams was begun after the man’s family reported him missing this morning.

Meanwhile, a search is continuing for 21-year-old student Stephan Kavanagh from Clonlara in Co Clare who has been missing for two weeks.

He was last seen near Clonlara Bridge in the early hours of 7 March.

Local volunteers have been asked to get involved and assist in a ground search along the banks of the Shannon for Mr Kavanagh tomorrow.
