A man is in a critical condition after he was allegedly assaulted in Dublin city centre last night.
The 42-year-old was found with serious head injuries at Montague Place.
He is being treated at St James's Hospital.
Gardaí at Pearse Street have appealed for information from anyone who was in the area between 6.50pm and 8.30pm last night.
Separately, five men, who were questioned about an alleged assault on Parnell Street in Dublin yesterday afternoon, have been released without charge.
A file is being prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions.
A 42-year-man was injured in the incident, which occurred at 3.15pm.
He was taken to the Mater Hospital where his injuries are not believed to be life threatening.
