A man has been charged with the murder of Mary Dargan and the attempted murder of her daughter in Tallaght yesterday.

He is due to appear before a special sitting of Dublin District Court tomorrow.

Mary Dargan, 66, was shot and killed in her house in Killinarden.

Her 34-year-old daughter was also shot.

Her injuries were not life-threatening and she has been released from hospital.

A man who was arrested at the scene was taken to hospital for injuries he sustained but was released back into garda custody late last night.

Gardaí have appealed to witnesses to come forward.

It is believed the man arrested is not related to the women and lived locally.
