A 36-year-old man has been extradited from Amsterdam in connection with the murder of Ciaran Noonan three years ago.

Mr Noonan's body was discovered in a field in Trim, Co Meath, on 4 November 2011.

The 29-year-old had been abducted from Russell Avenue, East Wall in Dublin three weeks earlier.

Gardaí say the man was arrested in Amsterdam last night on foot of a European Arrest Warrant.

He is expected to appear before the Criminal Courts of Justice today charged in connection with the murder.
