Police have captured a man after he led police on a chase in three different stolen cars in the US state of Colorado.

A Colorado State Trooper sustained minor injuries in the incident.

The dramatic events started in the Denver area as police chased a red SUV after a boy was reported missing.

Police backed off due to dangerous traffic moves the suspect was making, but a news helicopter was flying above the vehicle and in communication with police as it was following it.

About 30 minutes after the chase had started the suspect stopped his car on the side of the highway and carjacked a vehicle.

The suspect then took off in the gold minivan and continued to speed away from police. Another carjacking took place soon afterwards.

At approximately 8.05am the chase ended and the suspect was captured.

Longmont police identified the suspect as Ryan Stone.
