Gardai have appealed for witnesses following two separate road crashes

Two people have died in car crashes in Co Cork and Co Laois.

A 17-year-old boy died when the car he was travelling in overturned in Co Cork.

The crash happened on the Lisgriffin Road, north of Mallow, at about 4.10pm.

Three other teenagers in the car were treated for shock.

Any witnesses have been asked to contact Mallow on 022-31450, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800-666111 or any garda station.

Elsewhere, a man in his 30s died in a road crash in Co Laois.

He died when the 4x4 vehicle he was driving hit a pole on the Ballyfin road, near Mountrath, at around 6.20am.

His body was removed to the Midland Regional Hospital in Portlaoise.
