The new Irish Language commissioner Rónán Ó Domhnaill has been presented with his seal of office at a special ceremony at Áras an Uachtaráin.

Mr Rónán Ó Domhnaill was Nuacht RTÉ and TG4's political correspondent, before being appointed to his new role.

The previous Coimisinéir Teanga Seán Ó Cuirreáin resigned from his post in December over concerns about the lack of progress in ensuring that Irish speakers can deal with the State in Irish.

Mr Ó Domhnaill was presented with his seal of office by President Michael D Higgins.
