A man in his early 40s has appeared in court charged in connection with the seizure of drugs worth an estimated €2.5m.

The cannabis was discovered by gardaí during the search of a number of premises in the Coolock area of Dublin on Friday.

Gardaí said the haul was brought into the country by an organised criminal gang.

The seizure is the largest so far this year.
