A 30-year-old man is missing following a fire at a funeral home in Ardee, Co Louth.

The man, who works at the funeral home, has not been seen since the fire started at 5.15pm at Finlay's Funeral Service.

He is believed to be a Lithuanian national.

Five units of Louth fire service attended the large fire on Tierney Street.

A garda spokesman said that the fire is believed to have started accidentally.

Despite earlier concerns, there was no need to evacuate a nearby nursing home.

Finlay's employs around two dozen people and makes coffins as well as providing a range of other funeral services.
