A 36-year-old man has been charged with the murder of a man who was stabbed to death in a derelict pub in Dublin last night.

The 44-year-old victim was one of five people squatting in the former pub, which was known as Vallance and McGrath, when a row is believed to have broken out.

Gardaí later arrested a 36-year-old man after a security guard at The O2 arena noticed a man in the area covered in blood.

A 28-year-old man who was also stabbed in the incident is being treated at the Mater Hospital for his injuries.

The man who was arrested was questioned all day by detectives at Store Street Garda Station and following consultations with the Director of Public Prosecutions he was charged with murder tonight.

He is being detained pending his appearance before the Dublin District Court tomorrow morning.
