Private committee hearings to remain privateWednesday 26 February 2014 22.35
The Committee on Procedure and Privileges has agreed to maintain the long-standing rule that what committees hear in private should remain in private.
The decision is understood to have been based on legal advice.
The committee was responding to a request from the Public Accounts Committee to consider giving garda whistleblower Sergeant Maurice McCabe a transcript of his evidence before the committee.
He gave his evidence in a private meeting.
