Outgoing Irish Hotels Federation President Michael Vaughan has said that the hotel industry has 3,000 opportunities that need to be filled.

Mr Vaughan said the positions include front-of-house jobs and in particular those involving culinary skills.

He said that any job can be a stepping stone to the top.

The federation says an additional 74,000 tourism jobs could be created by 2020.

It says increasing tourism marketing could yield an extra €540m in additional annual tax revenue.
