A shoreline search for one of two men who went missing on the Sheep's Head Peninsula in west Cork at the weekend has been suspended.

The search is expected to resume tomorrow.

Earlier, gardaí appealed to members of the public not to join the search, as conditions in the area were deemed to be too dangerous.

The body of one of the men was recovered from the sea on Monday afternoon.

Dutch nationals Roland Deckers, 31, and Othman Rahmouni, 33, were staying at a holiday home owned by Mr Deckers’ family near Kilcrohane on the peninsula.

It is thought they went missing while out walking on Saturday afternoon.

Formal identification of the body that was recovered has not been made.
