Volunteer lifeboat crew with Lough Derg RNLI have rescued a man from the Nenagh River this afternoon after they received reports that he had fallen from his kayak.

Members of the emergency services, including the Gardaí and local fire crew, had already tried unsuccessfully to recover the man from the side of the river, before the RNLI was called.

The man was brought to hospital by a Coast Guard helicopter, where is condition is said to be non-threatening.
