A 64-year-old male pedestrian has died after he was struck by a car on the N2 Dublin to Derry Road.

A 51-year-old man was arrested in the aftermath of the incident, which took place between Emyvale in Co Monaghan and Aughnacloy, Co Tyrone.

The PSNI said the victim was struck by a dark coloured Audi A4 just before 10.25am.

The N2 route between Emvyale and Aughnacloy was temporarily closed in the aftermath of the incident and diversions were put in place.

Anyone who witnessed the accident is asked to contact the PSNI.
