A 19-year-old man has died and five other people were injured in a road crash in Co Galway.

The man was fatally injured when the car he was travelling in left the road and overturned on the Inagh Road in Clifden at around 2am.

He was pronounced dead at the scene and his body was removed to University Hospital Galway.

The five other occupants of the car were also taken to University Hospital Galway, where their injuries are said not to be life-threatening.

The road has been closed for a technical examination and local diversions are in place.
