Protest in Galway over Margaretta D'Arcy's imprisonmentMonday 27 January 2014 14.04
Up to 75 people gathered in Galway city centre this afternoon in support of jailed anti-war protester Margaretta D'Arcy.
The 79-year-old is serving a three-month prison sentence over her refusal to sign a bond to stay out of unauthorised areas of Shannon Airport.
The protest, organised by the Galway Alliance Against War, was addressed by D'Arcy's son Finn Arden.
He described his mother's condition as mentally alert and very articulate.
Mr Arden called on people to support his mother's case.
He asked people to show their support by gathering at the entrance to Shannon Airport on Sunday 9 February.
