An iconic part of the skyline in the US state of South Carolina has been demolished.

The Scott Towers in downtown Greenville were imploded after the 14-storey housing site was found to have structural problems.

Crews used 180kg (400 pounds) of dynamite to demolish the building and make way for a new apartment complex.

It took 17 seconds to level the development, which had stood for four decades.
