Taoiseach Enda Kenny has said that an appropriate event will be held in London during President Michael D Higgins's State visit to Britain in April to reflect cultural ties.
A concert took place in Dublin during the visit by Britain's Queen Elizabeth to Ireland.
Addressing a Dáil committee, Mr Kenny said he understood the proposed event will be supported by the Culture Ireland organisation.
He also said it will provide an opportunity for the very large Irish community in Britain to participate in the visit and to reflect on their enormous contribution to the life of Britain and Ireland.
The Taoiseach did not identify the actual event planned.
But the scale referred to will add to speculation that a concert may be staged in a major venue, such as The Royal Albert Hall.
