A 32-year-old Kilkenny man has been charged with the murder of another man in Tramore, Co Waterford last Thursday.

Tadhg Butler, with an address at Seafield, Tramore, is alleged to have killed 25-year-old Michael O'Dwyer.

Mr Butler, who is originally from Kilkenny city, was brought before a special sitting of Waterford District Court this afternoon.

He has been remanded in custody to appear again in court in Waterford next Tuesday.

Mr O'Dwyer, who was also from Kilkenny, died at Waterford Regional hospital from his injuries after a stabbing incident.

Mr Butler was arrested in the vicinity of the property shortly after gardaí arrived.
