The funeral of two sisters who died in a house fire in Letterkenny, Co Donegal on Friday has taken place.

Hundreds of mourners gathered in St Columba's Church, Drumoghill for the funerals of Anngeline and Jody Brogan.

Fr Brian Quinn asked the congregation to reach out to the Brogan family at this difficult time.

He said Angie and Jody were girls who died before their time and there would be a huge loss and emptiness in the Brogan house now.

Fr Quinn asked that people remember them as daughters, mothers, friends and sisters -  people who made a difference.

He said they were kind girls and gentle souls. Their children were prayed for during the mass.

Both sisters were later laid to rest in the adjoining cemetery.
