A 19-year-old man has been killed in a road traffic collision in Dublin.

The incident happened when the man's motorcycle crashed into a parked car on Ballybough Road shortly before 2pm.

He was taken to the Mater hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

The two occupants of the car were uninjured.

A section of the Ballybough Road is closed and diversions are in place.

Gardaí are appealing to witnesses to contact them.

Separately, gardaí have renewed their appeal for information after a five-year-old girl died in hospital today, a week after she was seriously injured in a road accident in Co Galway.

The collision, involving three vehicles, occurred on the M6 at Newford in Athenry on 18 December.
