Man held after gardaí fire shot in Dublin stand-off

A man has been arrested and a replica firearm recovered after an incident in Dublin in which gardaí fired a shot.

Gardaí attended the scene of an incident at Greencastle Road in Coolock at around 2.30am.

A man, aged in his 20s, threatened gardaí and members of the public.

The area was sealed off and the man was arrested following a stand-off.

The scene was attended by armed gardaí, who discharged one shot during the incident. Nobody was injured.

The man is being held at Coolock Garda Station.

The Garda Síochána Ombudsman Commission has been notified.
