Four men have been arrested after cannabis plants with an estimated street value of €100,000 were seized in Co Cork.

The discovery was made last night during a planned search at a house in Rusheen in Macroom.

The four men, aged from their late teens to early 30s, are being held at Bandon Garda Station.

Elsewhere, officers from Revenue's Customs Service at Dublin Port detained a UK national on Saturday as he attempted to import 15kg of cannabis with an estimated street value of €300,000.

A sniffer dog gave a positive reaction to a vehicle that had left a ferry from Holyhead.

The vehicle was scanned by the Customs mobile x-ray scanner and found it had a false floor beneath which officers discovered the drugs.

The man was later arrested and investigations are continuing.
