An air and sea search took place today for a man who fell into water while fishing with a friend near the lighthouse at Blackhead in Co Clare.
The alarm was raised by the man's friend yesterday afternoon.
The coastguard at Doolin, the RNLI lifeboat from the Aran Islands and the Shannon-based rescue helicopter took part in the operation.
It is understood the two men were fishing from the rocky shore when one of them was swept in by a large wave.
Sea conditions in the search area were said to be rough.
