Beaumont Hospital cancer unit contaminated with E coliMonday 16 December 2013 23.12
A day clinic for cancer patients at Beaumont Hospital has been found to be contaminated with E-coli and coliforms.
The cancer patients have been warned not to consume water from taps at the unit.
The hospital has said no patient or staff member has suffered ill health because of the contamination, which was found during routine testing at the Radiation Oncology Unit.
It said no other part of the hospital has been affected by the contamination.
The affected water outlets have been isolated and are not in use.
Bottled water is available for patients attending for radiotherapy.
Members of staff have also been provided with bottled water. A boil water notice is in place.
