Gardaí have appealed for witnesses to a cash-in-transit robbery in Ratoath in Co Meath this afternoon.

The robbery happened at about 2pm outside a service station on the Fairyhouse Road, and the cash box was handed over.

A silver Mazda car was later found at Cairn Court in the town and an imitation firearm was recovered.

Gardaí say there were no injuries and no shots were fired.
