Taoiseach Enda Kenny has said he is annoyed that over half of the country's voluntary hospitals or health agencies are not compliant with public pay policy.

A new HSE report shows 24 hospitals or health agencies are breaching pay policy, 12 others are compliant, while eight more have yet to indicate their status.

Mr Kenny said there is a process under way and due process will be followed but that he is annoyed about the matter.

Separately, regarding the possible strike threat at the ESB, the Taoiseach said it is a very serious situation but he welcomed the fact that talks are pending.

He added there is nothing inherently wrong with the ESB pension scheme.
