Raider overpowered by customers in Drogheda pub hold-up

A man has been arrested after customers overpowered an armed raider during a pub robbery in Drogheda, Co Louth.

Two men, armed with a knife and a shotgun, entered the Marsh House pub on Marsh Road at around 8.15pm yesterday and held up staff.

Gardaí said one of the raiders was held at the scene when customers intervened, his accomplice fled the pub.

A small amount of cash taken during the raid was later recovered.

A customer and staff member injured during the incident were taken to hospital with injuries not thought to be serious.

The man arrested at the scene is being held at Drogheda Garda Station.

The investigation is ongoing.
