Dublin City Council is to close its motor tax offices in Smithfield, Ballymun and Clondalkin next week because of a work backlog arising from the law change last month.

The council says that legislative changes introduced from 30 September have resulted in a significant backlog of non-use declarations, motor tax applications and driving licence applications.

It also reminded motorists that applications for learner permits, driving licences and driver licence renewals can no longer be made through the motor tax offices.

Customers can continue to pay motor tax at its offices in Smithfield, Clondalkin and Ballymun, or online at www.motortax.ie.
