A search of lands in Clonee, Co Meath, for the remains of Christopher Gaffney has concluded.

A body part was recovered in a stream by gardaí yesterday, which followed the discovery of partial remains on Friday and Saturday in the townland of Mayne.

The remains have been identified as those of Mr Gaffney, who was 37.

The convicted drug dealer, from Blanchardstown in Dublin, was reported missing last month.

Gardaí have begun a murder inquiry and have appealed for information relating to the discovery.

As part of their investigation, they have asked anyone who may have seen suspicious activity in the area of Mayne to contact them.
